broken gearbox

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

I have a Fabia, which is about 3 1/2 years old, bought it new. Driven it about 55.000 km. A few months ago it started to make a light noise. After it got a bit louder I took it to my dealer, who told me the gearbox is broken and that I need another one, costs: 1700 Euro. Quite a shock I must say! To me it doesn't seem normal, as we are very normal drivers too. Warranty here in Holland is only for two years. I wrote to the importer here as well, but don't get a lot of support so far from either them or my dealer. They just say: bad luck. Anyone out there who has any experience with this and can give me some advice?

Thanks!

Jan Pieter

Hello and welcome

Some details on what Fabia you have might lead to better information.

Hi janpieter and welcome to the forum , we will need a bit more info on your car to advise you further

I had a g/box die at 40,000 (miles) , luckily i was in warrenty so they replaced it.... do you have any companies that would "recondition" your g/box? I had this done to a saxo once, at a cost of only £500 including a new clutch...... (not sure what that would be in euros...)

oh, and welcome :)
