Aircon hissing noise, no cold air coming out - Fabia 1.9 TDi

Featured Replies

Hello and good day everybody! Since a few days ago I discovered that the airco in my Fabia 1.9 TDi stopped working. When I push the airco button it lights up, a strange hissing sound emanates from the front ventilator, but no cold air is coming out. The hissing sound seems to emanate from the left vent in the middle of the dash (driver's seat is left side). In the past I would have a problem where the airco would blast hot air at random intervals, regardless of the temperature setting, these episodes would not last long though. This problem however is completely new. Does anyone have any idea how the hissing sound relates to the airco not working? Any advice is much appreciated! :)

Mine also makes the "hissing" noise and I am convinced that my air con isn't as good as it was when I bought the car ten months ago.

I suspect it needs re-charging.

The car is in for a service on Saturday, so hopefully they can sort it then.

May well be worth getting the fault codes read off as the air con has a few sensors which are prone to packing up and could be the cause....

I think it will probably require re-gassing. SWMBO's car also hisses and the Stealer has said that is all that is requried.

It's going for a service on Friday including the re-gas, so hopefully all should be well after that.

Mine makes the hissing noise from the vents.

IIRC it's the gas purging inside the pipes and radiator, meaning it's getting a bit ropey (or something likr that), going to get mine done before the summer.

Oh no! That sounds pretty bad....and expensive to boot! I feared that I might need to have my Skoda regassed, and I'm sad to say it seems inevitable. :( Those of you bringing your car in for similar problems, please keep me posted what the mech finally did to resolve it.

Thanks for your replies.

Car serviced.

Air con re-gassed (
