Ipod Adapter fitting / multiplug cable release

Featured Replies

Sorry, I know theres a million and one threads on the Ipod connector, but I couldn't find an answer to my problem.

I've bought the VW adapter, radios out, ipod cable plugged in, however how do I get power to the ipod?

One of the brown wires from the ipod cable needs to plug into the existing multiplug connected to the radio, so I need to release the existing brown cable from the radio multiplug (so I can insert the new brown cable) still with me?

Has anyone done this properly or does everyone just splice into the existing cable? Instruction book stated a special tool - basically thin pliers / tweezers. What can be used instead.

Thanks.

I used two small screwdrivers that I ground down, if you look at the crimp on the wire that you need to put in you will see that there are two 'barbs' on it, these need to be pushed in on the one in the connector to enable it to slide out, it's relatively easy if you know where to push (I suppose a lot of things are!).

Hope this helps

Cheers for the reply. I tried sliding a couple of small watchmaker screwdrivers down the side of the crimp, but it didn't seem to work. Maybe I need more patience, and to try again in the light. :)

If you have a swiss army knife the tweezers from that might do it.
