Crack in front bumper

Featured Replies

I noticed today I have a small crack on the lower lip of my front bumper. It goes from the front of the lower lip to the black plastic grill. I have not hit anything, and there are no impact marks so how could this have happened?????? Would it be covered by warranty???? As I do not want to fork out for something that could be down to something iffy on the car.

If there are no impact marks then it might have happened under stress. Go see the dealer and ask them to rectify it under warranty. Won't hurt to try.

Could you expand a bit more please (just so i'm armed)

Uhm... Well, if you do a bit of a slalom through traffic at high speeds the chassis will get quite a pounding. Maybe that teared it?

It is more than likely you have hit a kerb or someone has hit you in a car park. Even thermo plastic is flexible to some degree so I find it hard to believe it is the result of flexing, especially if your wind shield is in tact

As I said it is only a small crack about half an inch. I have not hit anything as I crawl over speed bumps, and I park tail in if I goto a supermarket, there would be damage further up if somemone had hit me as it is on the lower lip. I am wondering if it has happened from the other owner catching it, as there were some scrape marks underneath when I bought it but I didn't bother about them (couldn't see them). But the crack was not there when I bought it as I went over the car with a fine tooth comb. Well the car is going in tomorrow to have the seat checked out, so I am going to point it out.

The outcome of todays visit was: The dealer agreed it was odd that it had cracked as there are no impact marks. So he has booked a Skoda engineer to come out to it and have a looksie so fingers crossed.

And as for the seat thing I need new seat rails????

Ask anyone who bought a MK2 Mondeo about flexing..

How many do you see with cracked rear bumpers and no apparent impact damage?

I've seen a fair few ;)
