removing chrome from grill before colour coding

Featured Replies

Hi,

Today i stumbled upon a quick way of removing the chrome from my fabias grill before i painted it.

Was wanting to get rid of the chrome on my grill so i had planned to sand it back to the plastic and then paint it. after many hours of sanding and not getting anywhere i decided to give the sand blaster a go.

The sand blaster did the job but it wasnt slowly eating at the chrome as i expected it would, it was bubbling it off in a manner that looked almost like a chemical reaction between the sand and the chrome? could this be possible?

it took about a minute to complete and the rest of the chrome plating just pealed off with my fingers leaving fresh white plastic for me to begin painting.

i was that impressed i just thought i would share with you guys
