Whats with the aerial on the octavia, does it need to be powered to work properly? If so how do I wire up my head unit to it. I havent bought one yet but dont want to have to add a beesting aerial to the roof.

If you don't listen to anything but "high power" FM stations, you don't really need the powered aerial. If you do want to use the radio properly though, you need something like http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/vw.asp which is a wiring adaptor which fits onto the existing loom and into the back of an aftermarket HU.

Autoleads part number PC5-52. Available from all good car audio suppliers. They might also have them bagged up in bulk, so they might know them as part number A-08A

You will also find that if you want to listen to anything on medium wave (Such as Radio 5) then you will definately need the adaptor
