Just had a 50,000k service plus a cambelt kit , water pump & coolant change, carried out by a local (non VAG) garage..

Prior to this the car pulled well from 1300rpm with the usual VAG surge from 1900 to 3000rpm & stormed up local main road hills in 5th gear with just a little exhaust smoke. from time to time.

Now the car is still smooth but gutless until over 2100rpm when the power comes in gradually in linear fashion ie no VAG surge. . It also hesitates when pulling away from junctions & roundabouts. Quick test 0-60mph took over 15 seconds with no smoke (pre service around 12 secs). Strangely fuel consumption on a regularly travelled route, has improved from 51mpg to 57mpg. the PD engine doesn't have a timing belt driven fuel pump (well it does but its driven off the end of the cam)

the garage could have messed the timing up , so really you should take it back for it to be sorted F.O.C. by them
