Opened the bonnet of the new car today to see what is in there.

Discovered how to change a bulb, top up the screen wash, and other normal stuff. Checked the lid of an unidentified object and the whole thing came out - a part-used plastic bottle of Autosmart Vinyl Shield. When I located a COSHH sheet for this product I was a bit concerned to find that it is "a combustible liquid" and should not be applied near "hot surfaces". Laying around in the engine compartment. :(

Yet another complaint to take up with the dealer.

There was also another object that I could not identify. It is a sort of oval- shaped lid covering a 60mm tube running down the back of the right hand side of the radiator. I suspect that it is an exit rather than an entrance. Can someone identify please?

Yes it is on the right as I look from front to rear.

I can take a pic if necessary but I have had a thought. Is it the air intake to the filter?

Not sure, If you can pop a picture up I would be fairly certain somebody can tell you exactly what it is
