Weak links to think about?

Featured Replies

Following on from the 300bhp vRS Fabia thread I'm having a brainstorm over the weaker links in the Fabia - in general, not just the drivetrain. Areas which I'm concerned about

Driveshafts - more the CV joints. Have got a pair of spare shafts coming soon.

Engine mounts - not sure if there are uprated replacements. I'm still on pd100 ones, going strong too.

Bearings - probably not a real weak link, but with me running 15mm spacers it could accentuate the wear driving has on them.

Areas which I'm not concerned about:-

Gearbox - built like a brick "poo poo" house.

Diff - uprated one going in

Clutch - Well, unless I find 400 lb/ft is the actual threshold it starts slipping

Bottom end - pretty tough

Not so sure how much the standard pistons and head will take though. Have good confidence in them remaining intact providing I regularly service the car and ensure oil stays in it. :) Installation of oil pressure gauge should help me in that respect (to know when the car has dumped it's oil everywhere before the car's own buzzer goes off)

Don't forget the other weak link....... "the driver" :P:rofl:

Chris

Cooling system if running NOS.......

flywheel...

with massive torque ouputs it's worth getting the flywheel double dowled on the crankshaft otherwise it's just the tension of the bolts holding it in place
