1.9 Elegance Questions

Featured Replies

Hi, this is my first post, got a new elegance estate 1.9 in black a couple of weeks ago and i have a couple of questions.

I have done 900 miles so far and am averaging approx 45mpg will this take long to increase? On a long motorway run with cruise control on i got 53mpg, Wife's uncle has an old shape ambiente estate with 40k miles on it and he gets 60+mpg most of the time

Dealer arranged for a brink towbar to be fitted - I have been told that if a non skoda towbar is fitted it can balls up the electrics - i have no problems but is this true i.e. anyway of checking that a skoda loom was used?

I saw a post about the plastic bootliner - in case anyone wants to know it does fit the false floor - you cant use the tie downs but it is a good job all the same

Welcome,

you may find it will take a few more miles yet to free up - about another

9000.

My 2.0 and old 1.9 were still improving up to about 15k , though you should get most of the increase in mpg over the first 5k miles

Yes, its takes a while for the 1.9 to losen up. Like you when it was very new I really found it hard to get over 50mpg on motorway run's....

Just hit 6k miles (half way there for it to be run in) now and mpg has slowly improved since 2k, now getting 53-55mpg (indicated) on a decent run and glad to here there's more left to come!

My 1.9 TDI, nearly 30,000 miles on the clock, averages 52-53 mpg on all running and on a 100 mile mainly motorway run, M25, M3, M27 A31 and the Wessex way, mostly under cruise control at 70 mph, averages approx 63-65 mpg.

mpg will continue to improve for first 5 or 6,000.

I average 53 mpg but driving is mostly on twisty A & B roads and my car is a DSG.
