New Superb

Featured Replies

Just taken delivery of my 5th Superb. The previous 4 have been trouble free. My new one Elegance Spec has developed a couple of faults in the first 5 days of ownership. I now have no N/S headlight on main beam or dip. Checked into the supplying garage on Saturday and found out that everything checked out and no fuses had blown. The rear light access cover was broken leaving the Bi-Xenon lens/bulb open to water ingress. The one on the spot and sidelight access was not secured because the plastic lugs securing the spring securing clip was broken off the main headlight unit. So I am now running around in a new car doing 500 miles a week with one headlight as Skoda have none in stock to replace this unit. Also I have a problem with the Aircon/Vetilation system basically putting air into the car which smells like a chip shop. Has Skodas legendary quality slipped? I will keep you posted on how this is resolved. The headlight unit by the way is manufactured by Hella. So not a happy bunny at the moment :thumbdwn:

Well lets just hope its a small spot of bad luck for you mate :)

but your on your 5th Superb and only 8 posts.......shame on you lol

I would guess VAG are either selling from stock or from a partially stripped production line to make way for the new Superb. Quality often suffers when this happens. I hope VAG behave honourably in respect of the warranty - the signs are not good following the DPF filter blockages on the Euro Cat IV engined Superbs (see post).

rotodiesel.

PM Baker21, he works for a certain company who manufacture Superb Headlights & can possibly assist in moving things forward.

If you only have one headlight Skoda should hire you an equivalent vehicle to the superb. They are expecting you to drive an illegal vehicle & potentially risk your life & those of others which is not really on

I do indeed work for Hella and I have sourced some Bi-Xenons for my motor some time ago.....if you need some help on this issue then drop me a PM.

If the back of the lamp is damaged then water ingress will surely have been the failure mode of this lamp as they are very well made and sealed.

yeh - car is illegal the aa cover or skoda should provide you with a car imho, did when i had coil pack faults on turbo octavia. My new superb (only no 3 though!) has just developed a fault with emissions - 800 miles - but dealer has been superb (cheesy play on words) and even though car driveable lent me a VRS. now thats service!!!!

Hope yours gets fixed soon and also quality is not dropping

Replacement Headlight unit supplied and fitted Friday. Nice to have the Superb back :) I dont think the problem was caused by Skoda by the way, as I suspect the Dealer was heavy handed changing the headl/Fog bulbs for uprated ones.

Was loaned a Roomster for the week and covered 750 miles in it. Have to say it was better than I expected but not really my cup of tea.
