Allard or Turbo Dynamics?

Featured Replies

Hi guys/girls,

I've decided to go down the hybrid turbo route and was wondering if anyone has had the chance to compare cars which have had the above hybrid's fitted? I'm torn as they both get good recommendations on this and other forums and need to make a balanced decision not based on price pretty soon. All the threads I've read have always said to use one or the other but have not found anyone that's compared them both yet. If no one has, could you share your reasons for choosing one or the other?

Thanks

Well, as I'm sporting Allards best turbo, fabia FMIC, EGR pipe, custom manifold, big bore downpipe AND soon to be remapped by them, I would highly recommend turb.... Allards!

I would pick them for home grown mechanical knowledge. Alan knows his turbos better than anyone - Lloyd as an engineer is top notch, and the company as a whole breathes a sense of turbo diesel tuning - more so than any company I've dealt with before (even Jabbasport, et.al) :)

How did you decide to use them? Was it based on them being close to home or word of mouth recommendation?

Cheers

Mainly word of mouth recommendation. I got my first hybrid and FMIC from them through the post, so location never came into it. It did play a small part when it came to my stage 4 tuning, and that was more of a case of convenience. I would travel a long way to them if I had to (such as why I used to do the 600 mile round trip to Jabbasport for remapping)

Thanks for that, I'll hopefully have made up my mind this weekend and have already contacted Allard for a firm price which has unfortunately risen due to parts costs going up for them, they said they'll be updating the website soon to show this.

Forgot to mention they also fitted a performance cam for me, and at no extra cost changed my cambelt/water pump/etc (which I supplied) whilst they had the engine in bits. So they're pretty good for servicing too. :D

Allards have been doing turbo dervs for many years :)

After doing some searching around I found that Jabba, JBS, Turbo dynamics, Allard etc were all offering VNT17/20 hybrids for a similar price give or take a few.

Went with Allard in the end due to their experience with modding TDis, plus their racing experience with TDis, plus they do even bigger turbos. ;)

Allard great to deal with IMO.

I think I'll be going with Allard as well after reading many recommendations. But this is currently on hold as I've got someone on my case of my blown turbo and waiting to hear back from SUK about it but not too hopeful so have the bank card ready to order it. Allard said they'd be able to have the turbo manufactured in 2-3 days depending on parts availability. I really wanna go down the hybrid route now. Cheers for your comments.
