Mongrel interior making good + Thanks Ross!

Featured Replies

Well, I was lucky enough to find a TDI Fabia Elegance in a local scrapyard, so went there this morning armed with some tools, with the aim of seeing what I could pilfer. :D

As it turned out it had 4 very good condition door cards, a good condition glovebox, and an intact centre air vent. So I got the lot. :D Fitted the door cards this afternoon and they look much better than the bluey grey ones I had before. They're the darker grey ones with images of stick people running. I love them, not only for the pattern, but the fact they're in such good condition unlike my old cards. I also have a black glovebox now, which looks good with the dashboard, but my centre bit is still blue, so given time and knowing that Fabia is there, I shall be blacking everything, and probably using the elegance handbrake too. :) I also nabbed the centre air vent so have a complete vent again - no big GAP. :D Got the whole lot for

Shame it didn't have leccy rear windows as you could have retro-fitted them too :D Wonder what the chap who bought my car did with all the bits off your Mk1 car - might still be in circulation?

Chris

Too pale and won't keep clean with me....

Chris - now you mention it, no it didn't. It was on a 52 plate so would have thought it would have had full elec windows. I WOULD have needed to retrofit rear eleccys as the front driver's door card would have had 4 buttons on it. :D I'm glad it was the same as my setup though. :)

Next step is to find the SPORT interior, with the darker vRS style seats. Then I'll be pretty much there. Starting to get fed up with how high my bucket seats are....

Chris - now you mention it, no it didn't.

Pretty sure the year mine was made (2001) were the last ones to have them, but could be wrong..... But yeah, could have proved a lot of work otherwise!

Well, this is what it looks like in the Devon sunshine. I even had to rewire up the crossover which meant drilling the new door cards! And having to make sure I labelled each wire 1 to 6, along with the crossover slots too! :D I think they look good but I need to get the rest of the blue trim out and renew it with the black stuff ASAP. :)
