TomTom

Need a bit of help here.

Ok, a relative has a TomTom One, same as me, but she wants the map updated. Fine, but she has no product code. I can use mine to get the map no problems, but, would it then work in her TT? I mean, do they make the map so it can only be used in the TT that has the same product code you used to download it with?

That probably makes no sense, but any help is grateful.

It's the generated device code which you have to worry about.

Effectively you'll be telling TomTom you've transfered the license to her device. Yours will the stop working with TT Home & Plus services.

If it's registered with TomTom, then log in to the TomTom site and you'll see it under my devices. If not registered, then contact TomTom for help.

my dad bought a tom tom one without an sd card from currys. he was told he could buy the sd card elsewhere. we tried other peoples sd cards, which never worked.

we contacted tom tom and was told we couldn't buy a replacement card because it has to be registed to the device.

we took it back to currys in the end.

Hope that helps.

I bought my Tomtom 910 about a month ago and now I find there is a map update that I am expected to pay over 100 Euros for, Not happy to say the least, esp as the map on it seems to be pretty out of date. Not a happy teddy at all after spending so much on it.

Ah well, not to worry, I'll let her know I need her product code before downloading it for her.

Thanks for the help!

Or do it through tt Home.

Shouldn't need the product code then. Just be sure to use the backup function first!

It wasn't registered with TT, its my nan who cannot work a computer and needs the TT to get to work, because the directions change each day of course....
