The mongrel has turned into a VW

Featured Replies

Well, a 1.2 (yes, I popped the bonnet at earliest opportunity ;)) silver VW polo on a 56 plate is my car until the end of the week. Better than the fiat I had last time anyway.... The mongrel is now up in Gloucester and I'm back in Devon again.

First impressions? VW is obviously quality compared to Fiat. I could tell once I got in. It has an MP3 cd player which is a bonus, but SQ is rubbish in comparison to my own system. one touch indicators are quite nice - and it goes along OK... in towns. Has AC but I'm tight so didn't bother with it.

On the open road it's not so good. It takes an eternity (relative to what I'm used to) to get anywhere above 50mph. 70 takes an age to get to. Cruising is quiet, but I don't like doing 4000rpm at 80mph. :( Fuel economy seems OK. It used 1/4 tank according to the gauge for the 120 mile trip back to work. :) Bit of a vibration in the throttle pedal at times too - bit annoying.

Generally? 7/10. It's got 4 wheels and an engine. :D

Whats it doing at Allards then mate?

Whats it doing at Allards then mate?

It's the final phase 4 mapping. They asked me to leave it with them as they had other jobs on and didn't want to rush it. They were hacking apart a BMW 320d when I was there. Standard turbo gone so the owner is getting Allards to do a hybrid. First beemer they've done apparently but shouldn't be much different to the VAG 2.0 TDI engine. :)

The green PD130 audi TT was there as well! I love that car! Looks lush (for a green TT :D)
