Excessive stone chips

Featured Replies

Hello,

Is anyone's vRS suffering with excessive stone chipping? I have a 51 reg Octy vRS (Black Magic) and it just seems to be covered in chips - bonnet, front wings, lower rear doors around wheel arch are the worst areas.

I know black cars show these things up but mine seems to have a lot. I don't live in a particularly bad area and don't go around looking for gravel tracks to race on.

As VAG is so hard, when trying to remove swirl marks, I would have expected it to be more resistant to the kind of chipping I seem to have. Would Skoda's paint guarantee cover this?

Cheers,

Darren

I've just bought my car, well 4 weeks ago, and i have noticed that just the front bumper is really badly chipped and the bonnet has a few chips too, I just put it down to previous owners doing alot of motorway driving?. I have just bought some paint to redo the front bumper and i'm looking for a bonnet bra that goes around the 3 piece grill.

Not had too much on the body work but had several on the windscreen... It's great driving up the motorway seeing the crack getting bigger!

Yeah i had to peplace the windscreen when i bought the car because it had 3 huge chips in it and i noticed them getting bigger, One of them was right in your view so i couldn't get it repaired as its an MOT failure

VAG paint is hard BUT brittle and chips easier than most!! Weve all got stone chips!!

car i bought had 3 massive chip marks on the bottom spoiler at the front, someone had then tried to do a diy (badly) job on it.

got the dealer to strip it down respray whole bumper/spoilers and re attach so it looks like new now.

will see how many miles i go until new chip marks start appearing....

Stone chips are the bain of my life at the moment :( . Everytime I try and cover one I find another, grrrr! :thumbdwn:

Every weekend that comes along i plan to prepare and spray the front bumper and never get the chance because of the bloody rain

My bonnet is covered in them.

I'm hopefully getting the properly machine polished in the next week or so which should get rid of some of the fine scratches then it is time to start trying to sort the chips.

Is skoda touch up the best paint??

Cheers
