TDI Judder

Featured Replies

Hi all, have got a Octy 2 BKD 2.0 16 valve the vehicle develops an intermittent judder this can happen under any driving style and coolant temperature does not play a part in this fault. There are no faults stored the fuel is not contaminated and the fuel filter has been re-newed, fuel pressure is good measured from the tandem pump. Not a flywheel re-lated fault.

Can I ask how you know it is not a flywheel related fault as that sounds very similar to the problems I have seen.

Hi, flywheel recall and modified dual mass has been fitted.

Doesn't mean that it isnt still the flywheel, my 4x4 1.9 tdi had the problem and that isn't known for failure of the DMF.

I have had the DMF replaced, but then i know of plenty of people who have been through more than one.

I would suggest that it could still be a DMF problem and not to rule this out :(

Hi guys, just for the record I work for at a dealer and I am sure the dual mass is in good order this fault is more of an engine judder/missfire very intermittent clears almost stright away, thanks for your feedback.

OK I'll give you that one then :)

I know they say not to use it, but have you tried something like miller power 4, or a couple of tanks of a premium dervs.

Failing that what about checking the chambers on the engine are clean, I think there is one somewhere that is known to bung up full of crap a bit. Have you also checked the injectors are supplying fuel correctly?

All just random thoughts, but at least it is something to tick off a list if you havn't already done so.

I had two DMF replacements on my 1.9 TDI within the first 4,000 miles, then gave up and bought a BMW 320D instead.

A real problem with Octavias and why I would not recommend anything but DSG.

Sorry if it's a silly question, but why are DSGs OK?
