Grrr...

I just rang direct line to see how much they would whack onto my policy if I got a remap. The nice young lady on the end of the phone didn't seem to know what or earth I was on about, and even admitted that she knew nothing at all about cars. Cue me trying to explain exactly what a rempa is, so she could try and find it on her computer. Then a 5 minute wait while she went to get someone to help her. Eventually she came back having found the right thing, only to tell me that I wasn't allowed any mods seeing as I was under 25, and that she hadn't realised I was that young, saying that 'I sounded a lot older' so she hadn't thought about it. This is apart from the fact that she must have all my details on the screen in front of here and I had in fact had to tell her my date of birth when I initially called as part of the security process....

*rant over*

Anyway, having several months to run on my DL policy, a few more than that to go until I'm 25, and a desire to put some custom the way of our friends at AMD, I was wondering whether anyone has tried cancelling a policy with DL before (I don't fancy DL's customer service twice in one day), and if I did whether it means I'd lose my third year of NCD (I've had the policy about 2 years 9 months)? ie. I'd have to say I only had 2 years if I went somewhere else.

You'd only have 2 years NCD to your name if you cancel now, as I understand it...

Probably better to bite the bullet and wait the 3 months until you can change to someone else more mod-friendly... in that time you can save the

I agree with Steve. Stick with DL until you have your 3 years NCD.

then change to LV and spend what you save on a truck load of mods.

2 reasons why cancelling a policy wiyh only 3 months left on it is a bad idea...

1. As already stated, you will lose year 3's NCB. You only get it for completed years unless its an Elephant-style 10 month Bonus Accelerator policy.

2. With only 3 months left, any refund will be almost non-existant.

Wait 3 months then phone around. LV & Greenlight are your best bet for a modded car ;)

Thanks for the advice chaps. I will have to curtail my modding enthusiam for now. I just need...more....power.. dammit!

Although to be honest I'm not convinced I'll find any insurers that are any cheaper than DL - they have seemed to be consistently the cheapest for me. Possibly not when you start adding mods maybe. However the woman on the phone couldn't tell me what sort of cost the mod would add to the policy as 'the computer wouldn't let her'.
