Any Ideas?

Featured Replies

I was accelerating canny hard :D (1st-2nd gear) when the off side front wheel hit a small hole. After this there was vibrating on the near side front..... behind glove box front of car area.

This has developed into a rattle even with the odd a whining noise .... and a little grinding type of noise chucked in for good measure only a bit though, mainly vibrating and rattling!

It only seems to come on after the car had been running a few minutes or so and doesn't seem to get worse when you accelerated.... it would then disappear for a while then come back.

There is no vibration on the steering wheel, gear stick or the brake peddle, the car is on the drive at the moment and I am using swmbo's vrs so to avoid making whatever is wrong worse. The noise got past the stage of being something loose in the engine bay situ I think :(

The clutch has been uprated recently, 312mm brakes added, decated and milltek exhaust put on.

I plan to put the car on stands this weekend and check it over but need some advice as to what it could be and how to check it..... some ideas that came to mind...

Damaged drive shaft?!?!

Damaged CV Joint?

DMF?!?

God forbid.... turbo (don't want to change that till next year :D )

Any help or advice you could provide would be appreciated..... thanks

bang O/S/F wheel , noise starts on N/S/F

how big a hole did you hit , you may have dislodged something , check everything under the bonnet for security , although i'm sure you've already done that

possibly about 2" deep, was giving it some..... I seem to recall thinking it sounded like I hit a bigger hole than I had!

Thought about the dislodging bit.... checked around and did notice the zenon unit (aftermarket one) was not as tight as it should be but the sound ain't that. Cable tied it etc. Took the wheel arch liner off to see if it was anything to do with the eater bottle/pump but no!!

When I was driving up a bank yesterday it sounded bad, bit of a mixture of noises as described above! Haven't been out in it since!!
