3 weeks old car - rear door ruined :(

Featured Replies

Today I parked in a downtown garage, and an old fellow in a Volvo XC70 backed into my rear door. At first it looked as if there was only some plasic from his fender near the rear wheel, but when I got home I noticed in the sunlight that the entire door is dented :(

I phoned the other driver, and we spent some time filling in the insurance forms, so I hope now all I have to do is get the door fixed. Not a big issue, but the first damage to a new car always sucks ...

I bet that must be heartbraking! Someone rolled into the back of me about a few weeks back! I was soo P**SED off, but luckily for me there was no damage whatsoever!

Was a Fabia!! So much for Skoderley Love!

I feel for you (bl88dy Volvo drivers)

Are you sure it wasnt trying to mate with your car to see what the offspring would be :D

I agree with the Volvo drivers comment. They are like Rover drivers but more dangerous.

They drive Volvo's so they don't have to repair their cars from playing dodgems!

Every volvo should come with driving tuition :D

There is a reason why they have their side lights on constantly. It's an "Elderly driver on board" warning.

"Volvo for life"

I don't get it

Lada, Mitsubishi , Renault and Rover drivers also made troubles for me :D

It is annoying. Some women managed to do a J turn (she was in reverse at a standstill and her foot slipped on the clutch) and swiped the corner of my bumper bar a month or so ago. Minimal damage but annoying non the less. She agreed to pay to get it repaired. It went in last week to Colebrook and Burgess Paint and Body Centre and they managed to do a very shoddy job (ripples in the paint, blemishes in the paint, poor refit of bumper bar) so I'm going in to see the manager tomorrow.

Hmm... visited the shop today and talked to my insurance company. I'll have to wait two weeks before the shop even will look at an appraise the damage :(

According to the insurance company, there will be no problems though, since I was standing still while backed into (which is what the 72 years old Volvo driver wrote at his damage report as well as I did at mine).

I just hope fixing the dent doesn't meen the door will start rusting, or paint falling off in two years or so :(

At the positive side, I got my rear mudflaps fitted today, and that will at least help preserving the paintjob behind the rear wheel - I think the car looks nicer with them fitted as well :)

The steel is galvanised so it should be fine.

I can't remember the last time I saw a rusty Skoda.

mine got dinged t'other night.

I need a new front bumper, its cracked, and pushed in a little.

Funnily enough, it was a Volvo too, a 2.5 20V Turbo, 85 Saloon, that didnt pull out as a car was about 4-500 metres away, i went to go and this green thing stopped me.

Also my undertray or something behind he bumper is vibrating rather loudly between 1500 and 3000 revs when i throttle off, sounds like a really blowy exhaust, but isnt.

going in Friday to get the resonance sorted, then a bumper later in summer.

Oh, and i had only had it 6 days then... bummer.
