Boot is jammed shut, help anyone?

Featured Replies

I have searched for a thread on this but no joy. This morning I tried to open the boot using the button on the boot on my 06 Octavia Estate and the boot only popped open about 3 cm's. I could not get it open all the way so pushed back down and it shut but it is now stuck like that.

The manual opening does not work or the unlocking button next to the fag lighter or the key fob.

I have recently cleaned the car so don't think there is anything stuck in the lock. I am perplexed. Any ideas? and can I get it open from the inside? I can climb into the boot.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you look in the manual there is an emergency boot release.

You have to fold the seats flat, and then IIRC there is a little piece of plastic trim near the lock which you undo.

As I said though, I'm fairly certain that it is described in more detail in the manual.

HTH

If the central unlock button still locks and unlocks the doors but the boot release does not work it is likely the switch in the boot release itself is faulty so its a trip to the dealer

IIRC the emergency lock release is mechanical, but if that is what you mean by manual release then I'd agree that it's a visit to yonder dealer :(

Once again the briskodians come to my rescue, thanks guys, will try to open it myself otherwise I will travel to dealer. Thanks again.

I had a look and it's on page 51 of my Manual,

Unlocking and Unlocking --> Emergency unlocking of the boot lid.

This covers both the hatch and the estate.

The hatch there is a lever you push to the right (looking at the boot from the back seats) in the warning triangle are, then open the boot from the outside.

The estate you pop the plastic lock cover upward then using a small object like a screwdriver you move a lever located at the right to the left. Again you open the boot from the outside.

Thanks Guys,

I did as you suggested cheesymonkey and with the athletisism of a mountain goat climbed into the boot and flipped the plastic cover, then while pressing the boot open part of the fob helped it with the screwdriver. A word of warning, keep this part well lubed as this seemed to be the problem solved with a bit of wd40, all is well. Thanks again chaps.
