Car wobble - 'dog bone' engine mount prob ??

Featured Replies

Hi I have an 01 Tdi 110 and have a problem with a 'wobble' that comes in at around 2000 rpm and then stays till approx 4000 rpm it kind of wobbles the car but not like a wheel balance shake and not at the same speed every time either.

It is NOT the wheel balance or tyre/ wheel as i have had 4 new tyres fitted and balanced and swapped wheels around and it is still the same as ever. It seems worse some times more than others - possibly under part throttle but can't put my finger on what conditions it feels worse.

Just so i know i am not imagining it my mate who has an 02 version with nearly twice as many miles says he has the same prob with his and he too thought it may dissapear with new tyres etc - but its still there !! and the dealer has looked at his and not found anything or sorted it.

I noticed the other day while I was doing a service on it ( 60k) and having a nose for causes the lower rear engine mount 'dog bone' type - could this cause this if it is shot - have seen threads of vrs owners upgrading these to poly bushes - do these fit the diesel mount as it has same part number only with AB after it but petrol has AA after the number ??

Anyone got the same prob or any ideas please ??

cheers
