car just been serviced, a few questions?

Featured Replies

Just had my octy serviced, 116k on the clock.

a few comments were made, front wiper linkage noisey.

Clutch pedal low

Knocking over bumps, suspect Anti Roll Bar.

Obviously none of these are immediately life threatening, but how do i know when the clutch has had it, before it dies complety stranding me in the middle of nowhere, and also how do i know when the roll bar has to be dealt with, i do live on a rough road/dirt track so i am guessing it will accelerate wear?

Is there anything i can do about the wipers?

And who in the cheltenham area is worth looking at to do the work?

The wipers will want a new linkage and more than likely a motor.

Not sure about the clutch being low, they tend to get higher as they wear out. But i'd check to signs of slipping and difficulty changing gear.

The ARB wont ever be dangerous, it will just get noisier.

Any possibility that the clutch needs bleeding? I know this should have been picked up in the service.

thanks for comments,

if the ARB won't ever be dangerous, just noisy, what would be the benefits of getting it sorted, accept making it quieter.

Sometimes i am paranoid that the handling feels odd, light?, could just be paranoia though

ARB = maybe just new bushes, but if it is warn then you might need to replace the whole bar. I changed the bushes on my 2001 TDi (110k miles) and that cured my knocking noises.

Same here on Monday, 53 plate, 50k, ARB, no knocking now.
