Hi, new here, but would appreciate anyone's opinions on buying a second hand Octavia.

I am going to use it for a taxi.

Been offered a 2003 53 plate Octavia 1.9SDI Classic in red with a mere 19k miles.

Had a look at the car, it's spotless with 1 owner and FSH.

Welcome to Briskoda. :) What year/plate is the Clio?

I have seen a lot of Octavias used as taxis in Cambridge, Peterborough and elsewhere. A 2003 car with a FSH and only 19,000 miles sounds an attractive proposition . You can use the sites below to get an idea of the various valuations for the Octavia and your Clio. As a trade-in is involved, it really all boils down to whether or not you feel happy with the package offered.

PS. Cambelt changes are now due at 4 years or the specified mileage, whichever comes first. I would make sure that it has been changed on the Octavia before purchasing it.

Sorry, the Clio is a 53 plate.

Yeah, I read about the timing belt issue, and will mention that when I go to negociate with this fella.

Cheers for your help.

Further on the timing belt thing; it's described as the "toothed belt" in the service book.
