There arent any so long as you go to a reputable dealer they are all pre devised, if you see what I mean.

Certain part of warranty becomes void - clutch, turbo etc

Can have detrimetal effects on the lifetime of the clutch also.

Benefits far outweigh these though...

3rd gear acceleration from 40mph is great, as is 2ng gear from 20mph...

Reputable companies will not 'over-map' the car to an extent it will cause damage, Star Performance have an excellent reputation and only tend to do 'safe' remaps.

As mentioned above, common problems sometimes associated with unsafe remaps are clutch slippage and turbo problems.

The car doesn't have any of the above problems. However it did have a problem where one of the turbo pipes come loose off the intercooler. This was at 58'000 miles and fixed under warrantly, the dealer didn't see any reason to attribute it to the remap - the pipes and intercooler were replaced. Apparently this is fairly common.
