Mirror Adjustment on VRS?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I noticed today that when my mirror **** is on R it moves both mirrors? This does not happen on L which only moves the passenger left mirror?? Is this correct? Also what is the middle setting for?

Thanks,

Rik

Yes this is correct (although R is more commonly labelled L+R). Centre position is heating, iirc.

Chris

to set them correctly , first set the right mirror , then set the left mirror , then when you move it on the right setting again both mirrors will move , this is useful if 2 different people drive the same car , say one of them sits further forward , by moving just the right mirror, the left mirror will move and still be in the correct position to see behind

Funny - Only minutes ago on the way home I was discussing this very topic with my other half. She still doesn't get it, so trying to convince her it is actually a rather useful design feature....did have me convinced my mirrors had gremlins at one stage though.

And yes, the middle setting heats up the mirror to prevent them misting up / or to defrost in winter.

And it should be noted that this only works when the rear demister is active.

Don't really find the both mirror move that useful, as I'm the only one that drives the car :) Would have liked passenger mirror to dip on reverse though, as some cars do. Handy for not clipping the kerb on parallel parks, and spotting the white lines :)

Mine does this, but when moving the LH mirror - I was convinced it was a bug. Surely it's wrong though - if you move the LH mirror to the left, the view will move away from the car, while if you move the RH mirror left, the view will move toward the car. It must be a bug, surely?!?

 Not on my car - works independently on rear demister... (MY2004)

Mine too.

Yeah I found it a complete PITA and prefer being able to control both mirrors independently, for example, if I just want to drop the right hand mirror to help with a reverse round a corner style manouevre. I guess some people love it and some people hate it. Is this a VAG feature or just a Skoda one? I've never come across it on any other cars I've driven....

Can't comment on whether the rear heater is needed for the mirrors as mine were so lame with or without the rear heater on, it was impossible to tell if they were heated at all

Then just turn the **** onto "L" position - nothing complicated :)

Then how do I adjust the right one independently and leave the left one in its current position? On hang on I can't..... :(

Chris

I must say that i never ever noticed this when driving my VRS. I guess I will have to check it out when my new one arrives.

Chris

you can if you have a 2007 model year car with maxidot. iirc its in convienience  (on Octy vRS anyhow )

Edit: Just checked its in Convienience, Mirror Adjust then highlight individually and hey presto both mirrors work independantly

Carl

My solution was a bit more drastic and I bought a Fix Or Repair Daily
