my 06 plate 1.9tdi is coming up to 16000 miles. Used quite a lot of oil in the first say 9 to 10000 as usual with these engines then used hardly any for at least 3000 miles. Oddly it's started using oil again, just had to buy another couple of bottles.

I don't mind checking it weekly and topping it up, there's no oil drip on my drive and i'm not followed by the blue cloud of death. Just seems odd to start again!

Same thing on my Superb. 1/2 litre per 5k miles regular as clockwork then.... stopped dead.

Ran for 10k without the level moving a millimetre. Over the last 5k miles it has eaten a full litre.

I suspect that type of useage of the vehicle plays a major part in the oil consumption equation. Incidently, the engine has 55k miles on it and continues to feel stronger by the month.
