Noise catalog.

Featured Replies

Thinking of starting a noise catalog for my car.

1. At low speeds with small amounts of throttle, it whistles gently. Not a clue about this one but no combination of light braking, handbrake etc seems to affect it.

2. Plant the right foot and something turbo-y makes a ga-rummph sort of noise between 2000 and 2500 rpm. Learning to live with this one.

3. Low speed rattle when gently traversing wobbly bits of road.

4. Bl**dy huge CLONK when carrying anything in the boot or recovering from a speed hump. (This one I have to check out further as it's a mite worrying). Hopefully it's no more than an exhaust/ARB interface problem.

5. Trim buzzing when using the hi-fi.

6. Very slight dash buzzing/rattling every now and then, seemingly behind the clocks.

7. gearstick very occasionally rattles a bit when stationary.

Got your niggles, plus others, in my Fabia vRS - seems to be part of the vRS experience! At low speed, especially over rough surfaces, I get a new buzz/vibe/clonk almost every time I drive it. Can be b****y infuriating at times though. However, all of these are soon forgotten as the car gets up-to-speed; then it never fails to remind me of the reason I bought it in the first place - it's a "buzz" of another sort, isn't it?

In my view, you either have to learn to live with the niggles, or sell it on. If you can't/don't, sooner or later you'll end up hating it, big time. I've almost been there, believe me!

There might be others here on the forum who have relatively niggle-free vRS's. Be interesting to hear from them.
