I am about to change my company car and our lease company has a web site where you pick you car and options and your allowance is fully detailed.

My Octy is in the workshop at present having a strange Overheating fault diagnosed, soI took the oppurtunity to try out a Passatt 1.9s estate(due to change in company policy we are now capped at 169 co emmissions so I have to be an oil burner in future). The Passat was fine if basic but the engine was what I was interested in and with a different driving style to my 2.0 fsi I felt that i would still be within the Octy camp. I the drove my workmates 2.0 tdi A3 and realized that was the engine for me.

So I trundled back to the leasing Website and to my horror all the Octys had dissapeared , Fabia and Superb were there bit no Octy . All the Jettas Passats and Golfs had had their prices reduced by a fair margin.

Are the good Doctors at Wartburg pulling the strings as i was once told that where I Live one man controlled the leasing for all the VAG groups cars.

Maybe the Octavia has been temporarily removed for a spec change for the 2008 models?

Well you might be interested to hear that my company won't let me have a Skoda in case I leave, then no-one would want it, or so they think. So it's a choice between A3 sportback or Volvo V50 and I've gone for the V50 as the A3 is just too small behind the back seat. But if I had an Octy (which I want) the company would save around

So you are forced to pay more tax just because your company thinks no one wants to drive a Skoda :confused:

Well, I have to say that up until a few years ago when a mate of mine got a Mk1 Octy vRS and I found out how good it was, I wouldn't have considered one either.

Several years and plenty of copies of What Car magazine later, my ignorance has been replaced by a Mk 2 Octy vRS and I am now a very smug Octavia evangelist
