Electric mirrors - both moving together?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

My electric mirrors have gone weird on my 03 Superb!

When set to move the right mirror, both move. When set to move left mirror, only the left one moves.

This definitely didn't use to do this - can anyone recommend a fix?

Ric

I thought they did this as standard. Makes it easier adjusting the mirrors for different drivers...

It's like that on my wife's Fabia, but not on mine. I always though it was just a slightly different switch (and harboured ambitions of swopping it over under cover of darkness), but maybe in these days of CANBUS it's just a setting in whatever black box controls the mirrors. It really is better the way you've got it now IMO, so I wouldn't worry!

Both my Superbs have always done this. Maybe it is programmable by the dealers???

try running a search, I'm sure its been discussed before... and fairly recently if my memories right

have done some digging and no concrete answer for the Superb...

it *definitely* didn't use to do this, I'm 100% sure about this, and I preferred it the way it was. Presumably it's programmable, unless there's a hidden combination of mirror button presses? - it's a bit annoying...

Not long back, but its the same as the fabia leaks - keeps popping up

It could be that the little black box needs to be left for a while to reset. However on my fabia the symptom you describe is just normal operation

Its normal operation, it I think is designed so that if you change driver & the person moves the seat to a different position they can quickly adjust both mirrors to approx the right position before fine tuning the second one.

If you have a later Elegance spec Superb with folding mirrors you will find if left in one of the positions ( not sure if its L or R ) when you select reverse it dips the nearside mirror so that you can see the kerb

I can confirm this is a 'Standard Feature' and when adjusting the driver's side mirror the passenger side should move also.....

My Bora did this, Golf's do, Leon's, etc......

Same with Octavia etc.

A quick tip, adjust the drivers side before doing anything on the passenger side and you soon get used to it.

you can alter it if you have maxidot (it works on Octy vRS). Go in Convienience, Mirror Adjust then highlight individually and hey presto both mirrors work independantly

Carl

If you have it and hate it (or love it and want it) it is VAG-COM switchable if you don't have MAXIDOT

I hate it - so mine will be disabled at PDI

I have a Superb 1.9 55 with the orange display thing in between the spedo and rev counter - shows if door is open etc - I cant find any of the settings described - all there is is a car status menu, which just says its ok. Do I have this feature? If so, how do I access it?

Pretty sure you dont have MAXIDOT

How do I find out? Its a comfort model I thinbk - the middle one. The diaplay is orange and shows all the info for the radio, trip computer, temp etc...

Oh, yes - its an orange matrix thing if that helps...

If its a comfort model you certianly dont.

Im not even sure they have fitted MAXIDOT on the Superb.

I agree with this, same in my experience too.

I thought the orange display thing on the Superb was a Maxidot display   Definately different from the Fabias and Roomsters I've driven which are more basic. I have driven some Octavia's though can't remember what they have...
