My two keys for my VRS are a bit tatty. I am looking at buying a couple of new fovs of ebay with blank blades etc.

Is it possible to buy two new keys and swap the cases around with my old keys or is there more to it?

The key section does come out so yes. If you are replacing the remote then this needs to be the correct frequency and will need to be coded.

So is it not just possible to transfer the parts from one key fob shell to another?

It's easy enough to code the remotes the procedure will be in the handbook.

The immobiliser requires VAG-COM or a dealer tool to do, so in theory it will be easier for you to use the new remotes and code them yourself and swap from your old key to the new key the blade and most importantly the transponder (glass maggot) if you can get it out without damaging it.
