The waiting's over -well almost

I've been following these boards with great interest.

Back in April I placed an order for a 2.0 FSI Elegance through autoebid. Because I wanted to add ESP, Lights assistant, curtain air bags and multifunction steering wheel (with maxidot) it was a factory order.

Well a Skoda main dealer came in at the lowest price and a fantastic one it was too. I've been told today that the car will arrive at the dealership Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

I'm going on holiday on Thursday so can't collect the car until I return.

Still it will extend my holiday as the dealer is some distance from my home in Essex. So after a week in the sun I can look forward to a nice long drive an overnight stay and a nice long drive back to familiarise my self with my new car!!

Here's hoping everything is OK with it!

Sounds like the perfect pick-up. :)

Bet you are looking forward to it. A nice way to end a holiday!

Fingers crossed! :)

How does this autoebid work then?

Autoebid is a reverse auction web-site. They list their minimum prices on both a pre-reg and 1st registration basis. You can opt for the lowest price or bid an even lower price. Various dealers and brokers then compete for the sale. You can also stipulate your time limit for bids to be made and they all tend to come in, I suppose not surprisingly, in the last couple of days. If the minimum price previously quoted or the price you have requested is not matched then you do not have to accept the bid and you pay nothing. However, if there is a saving of more than

Collected the car last Friday afternoon. I am pretty sure it is an 08 MY build by the VIN number.

It had all the extras I had ordered! That was a good start! I had a 300+ mile journey home with the car on Saturday. The weather was good and I had a journey of mixed road conditions, single carriageway A roads, dual carriageways and Motorways! Got to use the Cruise Control which was very nice. The CD and radio worked well too. Have now got 500 miles coming up on the clock. I haven't thrashed the car yet but I can sense the engine is going to be very responsive. On the long trip home, cruising at 70 mph, I got 40 mpg as against 34.5 out of my 2004 Passat going to collect the Octy.

So far I have no regrets and am very pleased with the car. I just hope it lasts!

Glad your enjoying your new car.
