Remote locking not working

Featured Replies

I just installed a new head unit in my Fabia vRS - seems to be working OK :) I turned away from the car to go back into the house satisfied at a job well done and pressed the remote lock as I walked away - nothing happened....

- I did disconnect the battery during stereo fitting

- The central locking does still work with the key

- The key still starts the car!

- No sign of flashing light in car adjacent to lock

I've seen some comments relating to the remote needing synchronised but some comments relate to sychronising the key with the immobiliser - I'd rather not get into that inadvertantly and risk an immobilised car...can anyone advise as to the correct procedure to synchronise the remote key(3 button) with the central locking?

Is there a fuse specific to the remote part of the central locking system or does the fact that central locking works rule out fuse issues?

Any advice welcome thanks.

Thanks,

Andy

p.s. Wife has other remote away at the moment - will try that later.

Hmmm other key doesn't work either...

Don't worry about messing up the immobiliser the only way you can do this is by plugging into the diagnostic socket and using the dealer tool or VAG COM on a computer, it is a completely different sysstem to the locking.

You could try putting the spare key in the ignition and turning the ignition on (warning lights only, engine not running), locking the door with the other key and then pressing one of the buttons. Alternatively try the synchronisation procedure in the handbook.

When you changed the radio did swap the permanent and ignition feeds around?

If you didn't you will know as the presets will be lost when you remove the key.

Thanks - I hadn't swapped any wires but did had used an ISO adapter. Have now plugged original cables direct from car into new unit (Blaupunkt Melbourne) and it seems to be working OK. I also didn't connect the radio adapter I had purchased this time - the radio also seems fine...

rgds,

Andy
