Squeeze the diesel in!

Featured Replies

Ok i have a Fabia Vrs, always when i filled it up to the top it took around

Try a search on "ventectomy" - that should give you more answers.

Theres an expansion tank which you can access by twisting the nozzle slightly when filling. I'm not sure its such a good thing in summer weather........youre probably OK at the moment!!

Yeah there is an "expansion space" in the tank, that button is a vent that opens when you put the cap back on.

It can be useful given the Fabia's woeful tank size of 45l but this space is there for a saftey reason, fuel expends in the heat along with vapour and that s what it's meant for. If you have brimmed it on a hot day it could cause problems.

I rarely use that tank - If I do I usually just squeeze an extra

Diesel has an insignificant rate of expansion so far as this is concerned & you will be perfectly safe to use the expansion tank as useful extra capacity in your diesel engined vehicle. :)

However, do not do this with a petrol engined vechicle or you will face problems ! :D

Granted diesel is not so bad, it however does give off vapour into the air thats in the tank which does expand. I store diesel and Bio in 200 ltr metal drums and the expansion in the sun is enough to pop the dents out.
