Annoying passenger seat klunk

Featured Replies

Hi wondered if anyone could help i am the prowd owner of a mk1 silver of course VRS my passenger seat haas developed an annoying clunk when pullin off and occasionally when cornering can anyone help.

My drivers seat does it, even more annoying when you can feel it too!

I've narrowed my problem down to the forward/backward adjustment mechanism, and possibly to do with the way the handle lifts up and springs back down again. Sometimes in the sprung down position i can push it/move it/swear at it, and the clunking stops until i move the seat again(which i now avoid at all costs)

Would be interesting to hear of any more problems.

I have the exact same problem as this can be intermittant i always put it down to my fat a$$ bouncing around on it

Lets face it if i had me sat on me all day i'd probably squeek in the end as well

Short of buying a new mechanism i don't know what to suggest really

Most likely the adjuster mech, and not much you can do unless there's a weak return spring in the locking mechanism, but I'd advise checking the runner mounts are all secure, esp if it's the driver's seat that's clunking.

Mine does it too. Apparently it's the plastic wheels which is runs on, they wear and start to get play in them. I've read about the problem a few times on golf forums, they say the wheels can be replaced.

That hadn't occurred to me; anything I've looked at previously it was metal to metal, and greased.

Its been doin it for a while and my car is warrantyed untill this sept.ITs only done 20k and its the passenger seat,.which only gets used occasionally

Take it back to the dealer then, and say you're worried about it coming loose from the floor with someone in it.
