Aux-In socket wiring MK 2 VRS

Featured Replies

OK, Can anybody help me with this one?

3 mths into my new MkII VRS and still pretty much chuffed with it. My biggest disappointment was not realising it didn't come with a centre armrest as standard....

Still, that aside, I am happy with the sound system; MP3 Stream with bootchanger.

I am finding that I never use the bootchanger (which only plays 'conventional' audio CD's). I do a fair bit of driving, and soon get bored with albums after a few runs, prefering the easier swap-able MP3 slot in the head unit. I have noticed (from the Owners Manual) that the optional armrest unit has an audio-in jack plug. Would I be right in assuming that:

a) The wiring for the AUX plug will already run in the loom along my 'non-armrest-fitted' console.

B) The Stream MP3 head unit will have AUX IN. (the menu on my head unit displays an AUX setting)

If so, does anybody know of the colouring (i.e. for GRND, LEFT, RIGHT) of the AUX wiring and also the mode of connection at the head unit? (i.e. PHONO, or is it already in the ISO multi-plug etc.)

I am weighing up the possibilty of a DIY install of an AUX-IN 3.5mm jack socket in the console in order to plug in my 30gb MP3 player or try my portable DAB. I'm not bothered about losing use of the boot-changer if this is a requirement via ISO.

Cheers,

Steve J.

I don't think you'll find the wires already in.

The part number for Socket is 5J0 035 475 9B9.

Cheers guys,

Will have a go at knocking one up over the next few weeks using stu's pin diagram (cheers again for that info bud, found that article useful when fitting my parrot).

I've seen half decent looking gold chassis 3.5mm sockets for under a couple of quid locally, which I fancy placing discretely within one of the console rebates.

I'll post back after I eventually get round to this task.....
