leaky Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi, Newbie Here,

My wife has had her new 'X' reg Fabia 1.4mpi for 3 weeks and has just discovered that the front passenger footwell carpet is soaking wet. I removed the glove box then poured water over the windscreen, after approx 30-45 secs a substantial amount of water began to drip from the bottom of the black plastic housing that I assume covers a fan ? I then tried to remove the wiper arms so that I could have a butchers under the plastic cover; I have got the nuts off but I cannot shift the wiper arms! Can anybody help me with the following:-

  1. Am I on the right track?
  2. If so, How on earth do the wiper arms come off (am i just being a bit weedy with them?)
  3. If not, can you point me in the right direction.

Cheers,

Pie Eater

1. No your in the user testing area (i'll move the thread)

2. The wiper arms just needa bit of wiggling, have a search for plenum drain bungs and all will be answered.

Check the pollen filter. Left hand side of the car, under the bonnet, at the back of the engine bay IIRC. Also look for accumulated leaves and crud un the plenum (where the wiper motor is).

For the arms- put the nuts back on loosely, grab hold of the arm near the bottom, and rock it back and forward. Worked on our Lupo.

Pollen filter is inside the car on the Fabia.

Brilliant!

Top tip !

Found a drain hole covered with a rubber flap behind and below the air filter, poked my finger in (Ooooh Matron!) and a load of leaves and about half a litre of water poured out. Really hope this fixes it. Will let you know..................wish I hadn't taken out the glove box now.

Cheers

Possibly the ehater matrix as well my garage told me when i had the same problem.

I still can't find those rubber thingys though by the engine though, musnt'y be looking hard enough.

Evenin,

Has been raining cats and dogs and no leak ! Thanks for the heads up on the drain plugs.

keep looking Fabia 1.4, the one on the left as you look in to the engine bay sits flush against the bulkhead, I couldn't see it and only found it by feeling and poking around for a bit. I,ve just found the other one, it is a short (about 5cms) wide rubber tube with a flap at the bottom tucked up in the right hand corner of the engine bay.

Thanks Y'all
