Kia Cee'd 1.6D 115bhp

Featured Replies

Ive had the 3 day test drive and must say I was very impressed. The only thing which let it down IMHO is no 6th gear which meant I couldnt better 55mpg ish over the 3 days.

I have been told though that the new 2.0D will have the 6 speed box.

I have driven 60k in a Golf GT TDI 115PD and have to say that the performance is similar ish although the Golf has the edge.

The new price is

Definitely a massive improvement over previous Kias!

Well according to Autoexpress & autocar - the back pages - show 35% retained value in 3 years.

Though as the car isn't three years old yet it's really only best-guess...if the market decides it doesn't want 3-year-old Cee'ds then that'll be less (although given the quality/warranty it's more likely to improve).

As this forum is for Skoda owners/possible owners I think you will all recognise this fact.

Would agree - as the price of Skodas increases, I suspect many Skoda owners would look at the cheaper Korean offerings at replacement time.

In addition the design team used to work for VW...

Hmm...VW, who have a reputation for "not being as reliable as they used to be"... :)

Well yes it is just a guess - just like that of the brand new TT the latest Mondy etc - however it is a value that has been calcluated and is used as part of the leasing cost of cars.

Skoda prices have increased too much - the old vRS Fabia was good VFM at

Only trouble is, they don't do either of the diesels with an auto box! Really annoying for me.

You can tell that its an ex VAG stylist's work , it looks very similar to the Mk V Golf. Nice car actually , I'd have one , and not be worried about the badge one bit.

I wouldnt have one, I've moaned before, after SWMBO owning a bad Rio I hate Kia with a passion. No amount of warranty or looks will make any difference. It will lose shed loads of cash like the other useless heaps they make.

If it was designed by an ex member of VAG I'd buy one of those instead, rather than buy one of their supposed Focus comparitives.

Sorry...they still look dated and cheap.

This is in no way disrespecting any of your opinions as I havent driven one.

I wouldnt want to be seen for a start.:D

But if you are buying it with a 7 year warranty it's likely that you'll keep it for a long time and running costs are likely to be very low even including depreciation

Exactly - given most people buy a new car for the piece of mind warranty they change it after 3 years to get a new warranty (and sometimes change of circumstance).

However if you buy it and the only reason you change is due to the piece of mind warranty suddenly the need to change has vanished.

If you paid list

Fortunately, the Ceed is a world away from the Rio. The Rio really is aweful.

I think I'd consider a Ceed. The only thing is, the 7 year warranty is only for engine and gearbox IIRC.

Yes 7 years for engine & gearbox but 5 years for everything.

Is that the current Rio or the previous generation one?

Errr, no idea.

Think its a 54 plate the one I had the displeasure of being a passenger in. Looked almost like an Estate.

Yeah, that's the old one...new one is more of a "supermini" class size and looks quite tidy...

I've heard that the stalks for wipers/indicators are still crossed up on the Cee'd. it's very annoying if you've got access to two cars and the stalks are on the opposite sides. Still, most people just don't bother signalling these days...

The Koreans have it the right way round - you don't have a 'dead' hand like you do in a car where the steering column has just been swapped to the right without even changing the stalks round. :thumbdwn:

SWMBO has a Hyundai & the positioning is much more natural because you use both hands.

Ah yes I remember this however it didnt take long to get used to it & when I switched back to my car I kept putting the wipers on when I changed lanes....

I must say for anyone who buys a Skoda & claims to not be a badge snob yet are not willing to even consider the Kia (pot calling the kettle).

We don't agree often but I'm with you on this one

SWMBO's Hyundai is less fancy & the materials are lower quality but a damn site better put together than my Fabia was. At almost 4 years old it's still only been into the garage for servicing (all free) and is still under warranty. I wish I'd ever owned a car as problem-free.

There's no wonder Hyundai-Kia are the fastest growing car company on the planet is there?

European car makers are worried as they must react to the 5 year unlimited milage Hyundai's & 7 year 100k Kia's & very reasonable prices.

Lease companies & private buyers cannot discount such bargins.

Its all well and good wanting to run a brillient handling & looking car but if its constantly breaking down & has niggly problems vs a car with good handling and (I like the looks) ok/good looks but will never set the world on fire. Then common sense is going to force you to buy the more reliable car.

I dont like the looks of tha Hynudai Getz but you have to look at it as purely an A-B car nothing else. Its mechanicals are basic so shouldnt break and if they do it will be cheap to repair.

A friend has one a 1.3ltr petrol (he bought it in white - he doesnt care about the looks or performance of any cars all he wants is relaibilty and cheap running costs) he had the cambelt changed at 60 (or 80k) it cost him the pirncly sum of

We had a thread like this previously on the Ceed and I agree about the badge snobery....where would Skoda be today if it's perceptions weren't changed?

Would those people who had an Estelle or a Felicia and had bad experiences even considered a Fabia or Octavia?

Skoda owners being badge snobs...who'd of thought that?:D

In the VAG group Skoda must remain the "Budget" brand, Seat the youthfull sporty model, VW the sensible option and Audi the premium brand.

Ignoring the Super car brands.

I watched ITV4 Used car road show the other night and it went on about the difference in prices today as per years ago. The 205 GTI 1.6 cost
