Small Furby vRS boot badge

Featured Replies

As demand far outstripped supply when I offered for sale one of the smaller vRS badges for the Furby hatch door, I thought you might be interested in the part number so you can order one from your friendly Skoda dealer. It is: 6Y0853687AGLAQ

Me want me want me want etc.............

how easy is it to remove the existing badge from the back, will it not damage the paintwork when you try to remove it?

Proceed as follows:

1. Drip some thinners between the badge and bodywork to softent the adhesive.

2. Using fishing wire or dental floss (two or three thicknesses) tease the badge away from the bodywork.

3. Part of the sticky pad will probably be left behind, so soften this with more thinners. Remove the softened glue (a finger nail will do this without damage to the paintwork).

4. Wipe the area clean (but don't wax yet).

5. Press new badge into position.

6. Leave for a few hours to fully stick in place.

7. Wax the surrounding paintwork to remove any smudges.

Job done!

Careful what thinners you use - nothing too strong otherwise you may damage the paintwork.

BTW - it took me ages to using white spirit and a fingernail to remove the leftovers of the badge's adhesive strip... patience is needed and I got some quite bad cramp in the back of my knees kneeling down on the drive and cussing that gunk that wouldn't come off!:rofl:

If you use a hairdryer to warm the area around the badge, it will make removing it a bit easier. I used IPA (isopropanol alcohol)m as a solvent, but sticky stuff remover will also do. Dental floss didn't work particularly well on the side badges (wrong brand?) and, in the absence of any fishing line, I improvised by using a length of nylon from my garden strimmer.

This conjured up an image of a wild Denis using his strimmer on full power, manically laughing, on his car to remove the badge...
