Radiator wont switch off

Featured Replies

Nowthen,

After leaving my Fabia VRS yesterday am, I noticed the rad fan was still on after I left it. Knowing they stay on for a bit when hot, didn't think much of it. However at lunch battery was completely flat, although could hear v slight whirring of the fan. Tried jump starting it and sparks went everywhere, I assume cos mine was still drawing power from the donor. Anyhow, got it started and charged it wouldn't switch off again. So I took out the fuse for the fan (8 on the bat lid) and it still was going! What's all that about?

Did a quick search and some octys were having the same issue, their switch has gone and its listed as a known Skoda fault. Is that the same with the Fabia? Is it a trip to the stealership, I wonder if I could get it under my 1 year warranty (just out of the 3 year standard).

Currently cant stop without engine on or battery connected otherwise it goes flat, bit like an annoying version of Speed!

Any advice much appreciated ;)

Just in case anyone has this issue and searches for it too.

The stealers did it for free as its a known Fabia issue too. They did it despite my car just being out of warranty FYI.

Do you know what they did?

I have been searching the threads and have the same issue on Octavia estate 1.6i. Fans will not turn off after exiting the car. Did you discover what the actual fault was?
