Advice for Octavia TDI Service

Featured Replies

Ok ... so the 1000 mile service warning came on the other day. It will be the second service (variable) for my 54 plate PD130 @ about 36000 miles.

Last time I took it to Star but since the warranty is up in November I was thinking I'd take it to my local stealer's to make the most of the warranty. I've just noticed a couple of spots of rust on the rear window guide where it touches the rubber, and the Radio is a bit strange ... if you press just under the volume control when on Tape or CD it stops and then restarts.

I was thinking of asking them to do a 40,000 type service, change the brake fluid (should have been done in November), ensure the latest software is on the ECU and do the warranty work.

Timing belt / Water pump is going to be late next year due to it being 4 years old. So that isn't an issue yet.

Any thing else I should get them to do while I'm at it ? Or should I just go back to an independent for the service and get the warranty work done separately ?

You might aswell have it all done at Skoda if you dont mind paying the service costs. It will be more convenient.

I would just have a 2nd variable service and ask them to do the brake fluid. I had mind done at its 37k (40K) service. IIRC

Could be different for a Diesel 40k Variable.

This is what i had done on a 40k variable service @ 37,500 miles.

Skoda octavia hatch

1.8T 20V RS MPI manual AUQ 180 BHP

Variable - full service - 40k miles

OTOH, if you go to the Dealer, you can raise the issues about the tailgate and head unit. Then they've been raised within warranty, so if they don't get fixed immediately, you're still covered for them after the warranty ends.

Very true, did this with my Rad mounts.
