Octy 4x4

Is the Octavia 4x4 built at a different factory from 2wd Skodas?

Is there any difference in the quality of these cars?

I quite fancy a 2.0tdi 4x4 and would plan to run it for several years. How much would it take to kill it?

4x4, RS and L&K are built at Vrchlab

The Octavia 4x4 2.0 Tdi is a really efficient vehicle with wide-ranging capacities; from high-speed cruising alongside the Audi-BMW convoys on German motorways, to crawling-speed acrobatics off-road, but with proper Michelin all-weather tyres for good traction and optional underside plates for protection. The hill-start assist is equally effective in tight spots, as well as the haldax 4x4 system on muddy and gravel tracks.

The electronic safety systems are also reassuring on normal roads in heavy rain or snow.

Plus the loading capacity is bluffing, as well as the comfort of the specific suspension.

For everyday use in town or on b-roads the 4x4 2.0 Tdi's handling is nippier than the Scout's, eg with much less understeer. For a slightly lower ride heigth that I rarely need, it has all the advantages of the 4x4 at a fraction of the Scout price, and low diesel consumption for a 140 BHP engine.

Finally I find it really good looking too.
