EVAP carbon canister purge valve etc

Featured Replies

i have a loud, very loud tapping coming from my EVAP area :thumbdwn:

i believe its the carbon canister as it comes and goes whilst idling, but it is tapping all the time after say 40 mph upwards and its doing my head right in.

it sounds like a dry tappet sound

the tapping doesnt get faster with engine speed it just seems louder but that could be me

can these canisters be replaced for a new one cheap enough to try to solve it as my cars done 105k so i wouldnt have thought they would last forever and might be due replacing

thanks in advance

Yep can here mine come and go whilst idling but i can also here it a 70 80mph sounds like no oil in a tappet, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, doing my head in yurggggg:thumbdwn:

if i dont accelerate its not noticable but once i accelerate and the evap kicks in its tap.tap.tap.tap sounds like my cars knackered never heard it in any other vw/audi ive driven ,so it must be bad

:thumbdwn:

When my wife had an A3 we had the dealer replace it under warranty as it was so loud. The new one was better. They do go just the same.

Cheers
