Sudden Flat Spot fabia 1.4 16v reg 002

Hi: being a relative newbie to this splendid site, could anyone advise a diagnostic problem my trusty Fabia sometimes has a sort "dead spot" very very infrequent only for a millisecond or so then picks up then off we go again car has only done 36k in it's life I being the second owner ....... any pointers anyone? many thanks
