Torque Question OctII vRS

Featured Replies

Just going through the technical stuff of the new VRS and the Skoda tech sheet gives an torque of 280 Nm, yet I was looking at the Revo website, where they state that the vRS has a torque of 207 Nm... quite confusing as it seems that by fitting the Revo programme the Bhp goes to 255 (which sounds good :) ), and the torque goes to 285 Nm..which again would be good if the engine was producing 207 Nm, yet a bit to the low side if the engine has a 280 Nm as standard.

got a bit confused with this..

Does anyone has an idea of which of the two values referred for the normal torque, i.e., the 207 Nm or the 280Nm, applies to the vRS?

I think it is 207 lbs ft of torque which is I assume equal to the 280NM quoted on the Skoda tech sheet. Could be wrong though.

Standard torque on the TFSI engine is 280Nm = about 205 lb ft. (Rule of thumb calculation divide by 3 multiply by 2 and add 10%)

Maybe Revo have their Nm and lb ft mixed up?

the Revo site is quoting the Torque figure in Lbs/ft rather than nM :)

oops, beat me to it

Torque in lbft multiply by 1.35582 to get Nm

207lbft x 1.35582 = 280.6Nm

Torque in lbft multiply by 1.35582 to get Nm

207lbft x 1.35582 = 280.6Nm

My formula is more memorable :D

You won't get 255hp but you will get upwards of 300lbft.

Have a look here JKM Rolling Road day Gallery

Don't be put off by the fact that you WON'T achieve 255bhp (more like 235bhp with a REVO map and any others come to mention it!), it's the torque that will impress you most, as Stu says it's in excess of 300ft/lbs which is plenty enough to push you into your seat :) .

Good luck if you do decide to go down the route of remapping your car, I'm fairly confident that you would'nt regret it ;)

Thanks guys.. I think revo should go with getting the proper units on their advertised values.. I am more interested in torque rather in Bhp..torque makes all the difference especially while overtaking and try to get out of a sticky situation (greek roads and fellow greek drivers :( )

so that means that the Revo software would give theoritically about 380 Nm, mmm

that is 100 Nm more..that is more than enough to weld a grin on my face for the years to come. :D

Thanks guys for all the wishes, as I said in another post I am going to get an Octavia, was looking for the 4wd (octI) but decided to treat myself to the new OCt II vRS, and I think I could get the dealer to get the revo fitted.. no need for heated seats here in Greece.. though it was something I wished for back in my UK days...

My formula is more memorable :D

Mine is more accurate ;)

Steve

Bahnstormer's is easier to do in your head though. ;)

... and is actually accurate to better than 1%
