chassis pre-drilled for grab handles

Featured Replies

Having bought the Golf sunglasses holder (something else I neither knew about or wanted before I signed up to Briskoda), I put it on the passenger side as that's the only recess with a grab handle fitted.

I decided that I'd prefer it on the driver's side, but there was no handle to replace and therefore no holes in the headlining. As a brief search on Briskoda didn't answer the "are the holes there anyway?" question I decided to go and find out.

Having gently pulled the door seal aside, I was able to squeeze a finger underneath the headlining and move it around in search of the elusive hole (is it me or does that read a bit like an article in Cosmo?). Much to my delight (I'm off again), the presence of the holes was located.

Using the glasses holder as a template for where the hoes should be "more or less", I used a pin to feel for them through the rooflining (I used a pin so if it didn't work out, it wouldn't show). I screwed the screws a short way into the holes through the rooflining to cut the thread, removed them, and refitted with glasses holder in place, and replaced the grab handle on the passenger side.

I am a happy chap.

Right, what's the next thing I never knew I needed that I've got to fit?

Good going. :D

Next thing you need is the Seat Arosa drawer / cup holder that goes under the stereo. Really good.

I think you mean the bodywork - the chassis is underneath the car,

Nice find though - very useful. :)

Whilst I like your thinking, it wouldn't fit in mine as the phone mount bracket would get in the way. I'll pop up a pic when i work out how to :)

As it's a monocoque, you could argue that they are one and the same.:P

Except for the wings, bonnet, doors and boot that is.:)

But on the Fabia, the body is the chassis

Unless he had a Land Rover Defender Fabia ;) :P

It doesn't show well from this angle, but the holder (or the tray) wouldn't clear the phone:(

That's the one. It'll come in grey so will need painting which was a nightmare for me. It kept peeling off etc.

The Arosa cup holder is my other favourite though. Very handy and the little drawer is ideal for the TomTom GPS receiver when using sat nav on my phone.

Where did you get that from? Any part numbers etc?

eBay. :D

Cheers, Chrispy. Are they easy enough to fit?

There's a post from Decron showing the full details if you do a search as he was one of the first. Involves cutting 2x tabs off the front of it and that's about it....it just slots in.

Took me about 15 mins. ;)

Thanks. I've just done the same. I hope I ordered the right one - it was for a Mk4 Golf. Is that the one?

W1J0 857 465 Y2 0 was the part no, but yes, the Golf IV one in grey.

With a tiny bit of chrome.
