Long Journey

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am about to go on my summer holidays - doing around about 1000 miles.

Any recommendations on any checks to do before and long the journey?

Obviously oil, water, tyre pressure, lights.

Thanks

think you have covered most of them mate, but I'm sure people will be able to point you in the right direction

Depending on where you're going and the breakdown cover you have ... wheel brace (and locking wheel nut key), jack, warning triangle, tow rope, spare set of bulbs, a good map, a torch (with batteries that work!), and a blanket. I always chuck a socket set in the car too as you never know when it might be useful!

Get under and look for leaks and split things too.....things that may drop off or fail. If your car is well maintained anyway then you won't need to worry half as much and stick to the basics.
