I have an Octavia estate 1.9 deisel.

Problem.

Glowlight warning light comes on after a few miles but only when headlights are on. If I switch the headlights off the warning light goes off.

Also:

With headlights off; when I brake the n/s sidelamp comes on with the braking lights at the back.

With headlights on; all the braking lights come on whether I'm braking or not and the glowplug warning light comes on after a couple of miles.

This is really baffling. If anyone has any solutions or suggestions I would be very grateful.

A couple of possibilities:-

1) Some, ah, clown has put a 5/21W bulb into a 21W holder or vice versa (rear clusters).

2) Bad earth or short-circuit on rear clusters, including on high-level lamp (probably where it passes from body to tailgate).

check that the dual element bulbs are ok . had one where the element had melted and was touching the other.
