(1) What years of octavia can be put on variable servicing?

(2) Can the 1.6 petrol engines be chipped and if so what kind of improvements to BHP & torque can be achieved.

1) No idea, but I'd not contemplate variable anyway. 2 years between brake inspections is just plain too long IMO.

2) Any EMS engine can be remapped. I'd not expect more than about 10% from just a remap though. You might double that with a CAI. sports cat and freeflow zorst. Beyond that, you'd be cheaper to look for a 2.0l or a 1.8T.
