Kayak Holder

Featured Replies

If anyone has the kayak holder could they post a pic or tell me if it ajusts to various different sizes of kayak ?

Thanks

You need cross bars and you can just carry it flat giving less wind resistance, or if you are carrying more than one, then the 'sticky-up bits' that you can strap your boat too like the one's below are essential - I have carried four boats like this with paddles, no problem.

I use Thule connectors on my Scout to hold the cross bars onto the car roof rails, as I have with the wifes Picasso and on my old Prius, and they are fine. They do feet that will enable you to put cross bars on any car safely.

I find tie down straps like these invaluable, if you use the ratchet ones you are likely to really scratch or damage your boat.

Mine is a Malibu two Ocean Kayak and have just ordered Skoda roof bars for Octavia hatchback. I guess you don't you actually need the Kayak fittings? Never bothered with the Peugeot 405 I used to put it on.

You need to ensure it is secure of course, but you do not need the specialist fitting from Skoda in particular.

The Malibu is a nice open sea kayak, but much bigger than my short Dagger Redline but just as wide, so I would get the posts on a set of cross bars with the tie downs and you will be fine. Easier to load as well, and I have put some pipe lagging on the cross bars to protect the boat as well.
